The roof structure is one of many striking features of this new branch bank facility. The folded plane structure provides shelter to the covered parking and drive through bays, and shade to the glass façade. Tree like columns reach out to support the roof providing both gravity and earthquake stability. The structural system and column support layout proved to be an iterative process to determine the most efficient way to achieve the architect’s intent, constructability and cost. The final design solutions utilize structural steel to elegantly achieve the architectural vision.
